APCC Internationalisation WORKSHOP: work on an international scale

This module is designed for circus artists, distributors, and producers who wish to build a coherent and sustainable internationalisation strategy. Led by Axel Satgé and Carolina Ortega, we will explore what it really means to work on an international scale: from initial opportunities and challenges to the practical steps involved in presenting shows beyond our borders.

During the module, we will cover:

  • Tour preparation: how to determine if you are ready to tour and how to adapt to the challenges of performing abroad.

  • Strategic planning: how to define an international strategy, taking into account key factors and essential actions (both virtual and in-person) to expand your project's reach.

  • Tour basics: practical advice on administration, finance, logistics, and safety, as well as managing various realities such as work-life balance, disability, and diversity.

  • Networking and visibility: how to genuinely connect with the right people, strengthen existing contacts, and make the most of international networking opportunities.

  • The role of the distributor: when does it make sense to contact a distributor, and how do you know if it is still too early?

  • From pitch to stage: a step-by-step guide to identifying the right opportunities and negotiating performances.

  • Mistakes to avoid: advice based on real-life experiences and the most common pitfalls when entering the international market.
