New show: INSERT HERE by Jean-Daniel Broussé

We are very excited to announce Insert Here, the new show by Jean-Daniel Broussé set to premiere in autumn 2027.

Insert Here is a lecture-performance that dives headfirst into the history of sodomy.

Stepping into the role of a fiercely charming and slightly unhinged teacher, Jean-Daniel Broussé takes the audience on a historical and physical journey. What begins as an exploration of a deeply human act quickly unravels into a highly personal excavation of Catholic guilt, childhood taboos, and the profound journey of unlearning bodily shame.

Using the visceral language of circus and the direct engagement of live art, Insert Here turns the human anatomy into a landscape of discovery. With a mirror, a flashlight, and undeniable humour, Broussé invites the audience to stop looking away, and instead, explore the dark together.

Original research developed through a 2025 New Authors micro commission residency. Jean-Daniel Broussé is New Author 2025-26, a UK network commission supporting innovation and research in contemporary circus. New Authors is led by Circus City, in partnership with Cirkus Syd, Crying Out Loud, Jacksons Lane, Lakeside Arts, Out There Arts, Take Art, The Lowry and Worthing Theatres and Museum and is supported by Arts Council England.
